If there's anything Filipina-American actress Vanessa Hudgens dreams of doing in her career, it is to make a film based on a book that is written by her Filipina mom Gina Hudgens.

The "The Princess Switch" star opened up in an interview with Glamour about her mom's struggles of being an immigrant in the United States at the age of 25.

“My mom is from the Philippines, and growing up, there weren’t really that many women who looked like me and my mom and my family on screen," she said.

“It’s so important to share all the different stories because America is a massive melting pot, [just like the] world. There are so many different stories that need to be told so that we are exposed to them and can have more empathy towards different people.”

The 33-year-old actress said she hopes that her mom will write about her experience and make a book that she will one day turn into a film.

“As an immigrant, coming into the States and not knowing anyone, I can’t even imagine how difficult and challenging that is and what challenges she faced as a woman. And my father was a firefighter, so he was gone for a week and home for a week," she continued.

She also recalled witnessing her mom's hardships while their father was away from them. “I feel like that’s such a relatable story to so many women all over the world. The more that we can share, the more we can lift each other up,” she added.

Vanessa is Glamour's cover girl for December. She is the star of Netflix's film franchise "The Princess Switch." Its third installment "The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star" is now available for streaming.
