Congratulations are in order for Ina Raymundo’s 17-year-old son, Jakob Portunak, as he recently became an official college baseball player in the United States.
On Monday, November 15, the actress-singer took to her Instagram to share the wonderful news, announcing that Jakob, her second child with husband Brian Poturnak, has secured a much-coveted athletic scholarship from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Ina uploaded pictures of Brian next to Jakob in a baseball uniform, confirming that the latter is now a D1 college baseball player. D1, or Division 1, is the highest level of intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States.
"After many years of hard work and dedication to baseball, my son is now officially a Xavier Musketeer. To be playing D1 college baseball is one of the best achievements in your life, Jakob. We are so proud of you,” captioned Ina.
She went on to express her gratitude to those who’ve supported Jakob, saying, "Of course, this wouldn’t be possible without the 101% support you get from your dad. I’ve witnessed the best teamwork between the two of you, that also includes Coach Alex, thank you. Thank you Lord, for orchestrating all these blessings.”
Having played baseball since he was six, Jakob also referred to his big achievement on his own Instagram account.
“Onto bigger things,” he simply wrote.
Jakob is Ina’s second of five children with Brian Portunak.
