Kylie Verzosa was admittedly rattled by the police vehicle incident involving her boyfriend actor Jake Cuenca which happened last October 9.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Kylie revealed that she was not in Manila when the headline-grabbing car chase happened. As soon as she learned about the incident, she was filled with sadness and worry for her boyfriend.
“Sobrang nalungkot ako sa nangyari at that time. I was in Mindoro and we were shooting 'Sisid.' Hindi ako nakatulog after I learned what happened to Jake,” said the beauty queen-actress.
Jake’s SUV reportedly sideswiped a police car while authorities were conducting a buy-bust operation in Barangay Barangka Ibaba, Mandaluyong City. Subsequently, he sped off in a state of panic, prompting the police to chase after Jake’s car.
In an attempt to stop the actor’s vehicle, the cops fired at his car tires, which resulted in a stray bullet hitting a Grab delivery rider.
Kylie opened up about how the incident affected her, saying, “I was so worried about Jake. Parang nawala din ako sa sarili ko.”
“It took time for me to know the real story. I felt bad for all the parties involved. Very unfortunate event lang talaga,” she added.
In a previous report by ABS-CBN News, Jake said that the incident was “very traumatizing” for him, explaining that he took off because the police were not in uniform, and to him it seemed that they were "armed civilians flagging him down with unmarked vehicles."
Now, weeks after the incident, Kylie said that she knows her beau “will get through this.”
“All parties are healing with that situation. Magkausap kami ni Jake when that happened. Every hour, I was calling him up and happy ako that he was taking the call every time. Very responsive siya sa akin whenever I would check up on him. Fully supportive ako talaga. I know he will get through this,” Kylie assuredly said.
According to her, Jake is “recovering” while “presently taping for a series.”
Jake will be starring in “Viral Scandal” with Charlie Dizon, Joshua Garcia, Dimples Romana, and Miko Raval. It will premiere on November 15 on the Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, and A2Z Channel 11.
