For a show that has inspired millions of people over the span of three decades, it is but right to host a beautiful tribute to honor its legacy.
“ASAP Natin ‘To” took the lead in paying tribute to “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” the Philippines’ longest-running anthology series in celebration of its 30th anniversary.
A moving medley of ballads was sung by “ASAP’s” The Greatest Showdown singers Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Erik Santos, Kyla, Darren Espanto, KZ Tandingan, Klarisse de Guzman, Nina, and Jason Dy.
“Tawag ng Tanghalan” champion JM Yosures also performed the new rendition of “MMK’s” theme song, which inspired even more nostalgia for the poignant retelling of hundreds of real-life stories.
The tribute wouldn’t have been complete without the special appearance of “MMK” host Charo Santos-Concio, who gave a heartwarming message to the show’s long-time fans and viewers.
Last September 18, “MMK” premiered a special 10-episode documentary series called “MMK Shorts: Beyond the Lens” which told the previously unshown moments of the letter-senders whose stories were shared in some of the show’s most notable episodes. The series was streamed on ABS-CBN Entertainment's YouTube channel.
