Spooky season is upon us! The breeze is cooler, the sky is gloomier, and the only thing that’s missing is a proper horror movie to watch while we curl up with a hot cup of coffee.

If you’re one to enjoy spine-chilling stories that go beyond prank scares and cheesy costumes, we’ve got a fantastic list of films for you to binge-watch on your next Netflix marathon.

Based on a 2016 Indian film of the same title, “U-Turn” is a mystery-thriller starring Kim Chiu, Tony Labrusca, and JM de Guzman.

Kim Chiu plays Donna Suarez, a budding reporter who relentlessly investigates a series of suicides only to make a haunting discovery that may put her in great danger. This compelling film will have you shivering into an utter sense of panic and dread, but don’t just take our word for it and see for yourself.

"Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay"

Top-billed by Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, “Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay” follows the story of a group of teenagers who ignored the Filipino superstition of not going home right after visiting a wake. In consequence, they end up being hunted down by the vindictive spirit of a dead man. The big question is: will they be able to survive?

“Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay” was an official entry to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Here’s one for the scary school story enthusiasts. Set in the confines of a fictional all-girls Catholic school, “Eerie” follows the tale of a compassionate guidance counselor played by Bea Alonzo who tries to get to the bottom of her students’ ghostly suspicions. Her investigation of the supernatural leads to a major discovery about the school headmaster, which is played by Charo Santos.

Don’t let your fear frenzy marathon stop there. Keep scrolling to find out what movies you can watch for FREE on Star Cinema’s Youtube channel.

Throw some comic relief into your scare-a-thon with this comedy-horror movie starring Vhong Navarro and Angelica Panganiban.

Be careful what you wish for, they say. Well Vhong’s character Conan surely wasn’t. After whispering his wish to the dead for the girl he loves to love him back, his wish does come true but in the worst possible way: death starts to follow him around. Conan tries to outrun his fate by seeking paranormal help from his ex-best friend Oprah, played by Angelica.

"The Healing"

Try not to lose sleep over this Chito S. Roño thriller where Vilma Santos and Kim Chiu shine as their characters trudge through a series of paranormal events. “The Healing" breathes life (and gore) into the popular Filipino tradition of going to faith healers for treatment and the concept of karma.
