Exciting news! ABS-CBN has teamed up with iQiyi International, one of Asia’s biggest video streaming platforms, to bring original Filipino content to viewers around the globe.
In a report published by ABS-CBN News, iQiyi’s vice president of international business Kuek Yu-Chuang highlighted iQiyi’s plans of expanding its pan-Asian content catalog.
“As the leading global streaming player rooted in Asia with a global footprint, iQiyi will double down its investment in introducing premium pan-Asian content to the world. We are excited to play a crucial role in putting Asian content front and center in collaboration with top-notch creators and talents from Korea and the Philippines to bring compelling Original stories to our users in 191 territories,” he announced.
In line with this vision, iQiyi Philippines country manager Sherwin dela Cruz made the announcement of partnering with ABS-CBN.
"We are delighted in partnering with the country’s leading entertainment organization ABS-CBN for our first local original slate," he said of the partnership.
Adding to this wonderful news, he relayed that there could be more to come: "This exclusive streaming deal marks one of the biggest milestones in the country and signals the start of more excitement in the pipeline.”
This partnership is definitely one for the books as iQiyi and ABS-CBN are all set to produce two original Filipino series, namely “Saying Goodbye” and “Hello, Heart”, which are also iQiyi’s first local originals in Southeast Asia.
Top-billed by “Huwag Kang Mangamba” stars Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin, “Saying Goodbye” is about a couple brought together by their shared love for music and adventure.
For the second original series “Hello, Heart,” Gerald Anderson and RISE Artist Gigi de Lana will pair up for the first time to tell the story of Heart, a bubbly woman who often attracts bad luck, and Saul, the man who hires her to be his wife in order to please his grandmother.
Both series will premiere worldwide exclusively on iQiyi International this year.
iQiyi will also be adding four new Korean original series in its international lineup, including “Crazy Love,” “Us At One Point,” “My Oppa Is An Idol” and “Weekday Wife”.
