This week's episodes of "We Rise Together" were made extra special by veteran guests and talented singers.
The one and only Broadway Diva Lea Salonga graced the January 25 episode and shared about her experience filming the internationally acclaimed movie “Yellow Rose.”
In the movie, Lea plays Rose’s (Eva Noblezada) aunt who took care of her when her mom Priscilla (Princess Punzalan) got imprisoned for being an illegal immigrant.
Lea said she hopes that the film teaches us to be more empathetic of the situation many Filipinos face when they work in foreign lands.
"This is a story about compassion. It doesn't really touch on politics, but it does let you feel what the politics were at the time, and how it affected a lot of human beings. So it's a story about humanity and compassion and about empathy; being able to place yourself in the shoes of another human being. And hopefully, the audiences who will see the movie will feel that,” she said.
“Himig Handog” interpreters Zephanie and Jeremy Glinoga joined the January 27 episode to talk about their songs for the prestigious competition.
This is the first time the two were tapped to be interpreters for the contest, and are the voices behind the entries “Tinadhana Sa’yo” and “Kahit na Masungit,” respectively.
Meanwhile, Jeremy said that “Kahit na Masungit” is a breath of fresh air from his usual hugot songs.
“When I heard the song at first, mas lalo akong na-excite kasi 'yung mga songs ko kasi dati puro malulungkot. So parang nasanay 'yung mga tao na whenever they hear my songs, they need to have some tissues ready. So sa song na 'to, I got excited because it's a breath of fresh air. It's very chill,” he explained.

Yet another "Himig Handog" interpreter Sam Mangubat was the first guest on the January 29 episode, and he happily shared what his entry "Kulang ang Mundo" is about.
An excited Princess Punzalan also graced the episode, and she couldn't be more delighted that "Yellow Rose," the internationally acclaimed film where she stars, is finally showing in the Philippines.
Princess also shared her experience doing the film, and admitted that she felt quite intimidated working with theater actors such as Lea Salonga and Eva Noblezada.
So malakas ang pressure to really come prepared and ready to go but everyone was very warm. Lahat sila mabait, so hindi mahirap sa'kin ang magtrabaho with all of them," she said.
