Yup, you read that right: the much-anticipated John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo reunion film is finally happening this year!
"Tuloy pa rin tayo d'yan," ABS-CBN Films' Managing Director Olivia "Inang" Lamasan happily said during a virtual conference for "Hello Stranger: The Movie" earlier today, January 27.
The film, which is part of Star Cinema's line-up for 2021, is one of the most highly-anticipated projects by their fans and casual viewers alike.
"Right now, tuloy pa rin ang creative development under Carmi Raymundo. As I've mentioned, creative development is continuous and this time it's a collaboration between John Lloyd himself and Bea," Inang said. "So that is what's happening. So tuloy 'yan, tuloy ang project. That's one of the few projects that we have."
Since it is going to be a collaboration between the two icons, they'll definitely be contributing creatively in the film.
"The many experiences plus 'yung intelligence naman ni Lloyd...So parang ngayon umusbong 'yung kanyang creativity with everything that he has been doing. And he has truly matured as a person and as a creative person."
"So it's exciting that he, together with Bea, has gone through the same journey, collaborate in the project that they're going to do," she said.
With all the things being ironed out for the film, the whole team is just as excited as everyone to push through with the project, especially since the tandem is close to Inang's heart.
"It's something that excites us, it's something that excites the writer, Carmi Raymundo, likewise sa director Cathy Garcia-Molina. So ako hinihintay ko na lang mabasa. Dahil ako excited na excited sa project na 'yan," she exclaimed.
"Tandaan niyo, ang John Lloyd-Bea ay nagsimula sa akin. Sa 'Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay'," she jested. "Nagsimula sa amin 'yan ni Lauren Dyogi when we started 'Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay' as a soap."
Inang also hinted about the timeline of the movie for those who can't wait to see it.
"We're set to grind in the first quarter of this year. Na-delay lang kaunti so now it's going to happen this year," she hinted.
John Lloyd and Bea's last big screen outing was in the 2015 blockbuster and "One More Chance" sequel "A Second Chance." The actor then starred in "Finally Found Someone" in 2017 before taking an indefinite hiatus from showbiz.
The two reunited for an experimental film in April last year with director Antoinette Jadaone.
