'Princess DayaReese' brought out the best from Maymay and Edward

It's safe to say that "Princess DayaReese" might just be Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber's most challenging project together yet.

And they have each other to thank for having each other's back all throughout the movie, as they revealed during the film's bloggers conference yesterday, January 1.

At one point, they were even able to apply Maymay's line from the movie "I got you" to each other while filming.

"'Yung confrontation scene namin sa palace, when we were shooting that I was really nervous," Edward admitted.

"Maymay's shots went first, and then we reversed on my shots, so may mahabang build up. Maymay just looked me in the eyes, she held my hand, and said 'I got your back.' When you hear that from your co-actress, someone I've known for a very long time, someone I appreciate, it's a big deal," he pressed.

Maymay also cited that particular scene in the palace, saying that she really got swayed by her emotions.

"Yung kasing pag-alis niya, bale dapat 'yung emosyon no'n ay nakatingin lang ako. Pero iba 'yung lumabas na emosyon, eh. So parang 'yung eksena na 'yun sobra akong nadala," she shared.

Apart from helping each other, they also had their constant workshops to credit for their portrayals.

Edward shared, "Something that [our acting coach] always says is 'In order to be a good actor, you have to be a good person.' I'm not saying that we're perfect in any way; it's just learning the technique, it's changing something within you."

"There are times where you have to jump - if you have to face the emotion you didn't want to face but it comes out and it's stopping you from acting well or there's a block, you have to face it. You have to jump," he added.

For Maymay, her curiosity to learn from her fellow actors was also a factor in improving her acting skills.

Her role model Dimples Romana also played a huge part in honing her craft.

And if Maymay had to rate her "Princess Dayareese" performance from 1-10?

Isa po talaga 'to sa big step ko to explore," she said.

"Princess DayaReese" is now streaming worldwide on the following platforms: KTX.ph, Iwant TFC, TFC IPTV, Cignal PPV, and Sky Cable PPV for only 150 pesos per ticket!
