Ellen Adarna admitted that all is better now between her and former partner John Lloyd Cruz.
In an interview with Preview for their January issue, the actress related how hard it was to be in a very public relationship that didn't work out.
"I had so many issues na hindi pa na-resolve, I was projecting it on him,” she said about her past behavior. "You know, we weren’t compatible, obviously, that’s why we broke up. Of course, any normal break up hurts. You want things to work... It was just really darkness and negativity."
Ellen found positivity through the mental health training program she underwent in Bali, Indonesia. It helped her improve her way of life, especially when it comes to her co-parenting with John Lloyd.
She said, “I can say I’m 100% okay [than before]. I feel my environment changed. Like his approach to me, my relationship [with him has] changed without asking him to change. So I was just really the problem [laughs]. How I viewed it, my thinking pattern, was the problem."
Apart from working on her personal issues, Ellen said that their son Elias' relationship with his father prompted her to further improve herself.
“Because when I had my issues with JL, [I thought], okay, if I don’t allow my son to see his father, how will I tell him [it’s] because I had animosity towards [his] father? Damay pa 'yung bata sa mga issues ko,” she said.
“My son needs him as much as he needs me. I see their relationship and I see how happy my son is when he is around,” she added.
Now that they found the parenting setup that works for them, it also made Ellen's showbiz comeback possible, as she stars in the TV5 sitcom "John en Ellen" with John Estrada.
“If Elias will be with his dad, and it’s only five days, hindi siya ngarag, might as well do it, right? So that’s why I said yes,” she shared.
Prior to her showbiz hiatus, Ellen was part of the sitcom "Home Sweetie Home." She also starred in the 2015 movie, "You're Still The One."
