Julia Barretto has broken her silence on the controversies she faced in the past, in an interview on Toni Gonzaga’s online show "I Feel U" last Sunday, August 9.
"You have been through such a noisy past. It has been very turbulent nung nakaraan. So many opinions have been thrown,” said Toni. Then she asked: “What was your reflection in everything you have been through?"
"One of them was being grateful," Julia answered. "I chose to look the other way. I always say this, but it’s true.”
She continued, “When you have a grateful heart, instead of questioning the things around you, or questioning the things that are happening to you, instead of complaining, parang mas magaan sa loob 'yung grateful ka na lang na nangyayari ito sa'yo kasi you know that it’s better preparing you for the bigger battles in life."
During those difficult times and hardships, the thing that kept Julia going was her family. "Ang family, when you’re hurt, they are hurt. I didn’t want to dwell on it so much. Hindi gagalaw 'yung buhay ko noon if I get stuck there."
The "Between Maybes" actress also realized that she's still so young and there are so many things ahead of her.
"I am only 23. At that time, I knew I was confident that there was still so many beautiful things in store for me. Kung susuko ba ako ngayon, ano na lang ang mangyayari sa buhay ko ngayon? Ang bata-bata ko pa," she said.
In everything she has been through, Julia's biggest takeway is to move forward.
"My biggest lesson was just keep going, just keep moving forward until the next battle. It will never end," she said. "The biggest lesson was don’t get stuck because eventually things are going to be okay."
