'Black Panther' superstar Chadwick Boseman dies at 43

Hollywood star Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed King T'Challa in the Marvel superhero film "Black Panther" has died of colon cancer. He was 43 years old.

A statement was posted via Chadwick's official Twitter account today, August 29, confirming the departure of the well-loved actor.

"Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last four years as it progressed to stage IV," the statement said.

The statement then revealed what a "true fighter" Chadwick was because he continued to do films such as "Marshall," "Da 5 Bloods," "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" and several more, all while he was having "countless surgeries and chemotherapy."

Chadwick died in his home, surrounded by his entire family, and his wife Taylor Simone Ledward.

On Instagram, Marvel co-actor Tom Holland dedicated a post for Chadwick.

"Chadwick, you were even more of a hero off screen than on. A role model not only to me on set, but to millions of others around the world. You brought joy and happiness to so many and I’m proud to have been able to call you a friend. RIP Chadwick," he wrote.

Rest in power, Chadwick.
