Kim Chiu's grandmother Francisca "Ayling" Chiu has passed away. She was 85.
The "Love Thy Woman" actress confirmed the sad news in an Instagram post last Monday, August 10. Kim shared a series of photos with her paternal grandmother, whom she fondly called Ama, and in the caption, wrote, "She slept peacefully, and little did she know she would wake up in heaven."
"Rest well in heaven, ama! You don’t have to wait anymore sa sunrise ug sunset. I guess in heaven, sun is always shining. I still remember 'pag kinakamusta kita, you always say na 'Naghulat sa pagsaka sa adlaw ug nagpaabot na mu gabii. Para ugma napud.' You always taught us that tomorrow is another day."
"Thank you, ama, for taking care of us unconditionally. First photo symbolizes the five of us. I played 'Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin' 'coz I know that it is one of your favorite songs and you always smile whenever I perform a Chinese song. I will miss you ama. Visiting Cebu will never be the same again." she continued.
Kim also shared a clip from her grandmother's funeral in Cebu and expressed grief from being unable to fly to their hometown due to travel restrictions.
"Felt hard to say goodbye. Felt even harder that this happened in this kind of situation. We were not able to fly there to whisper our last goodbye." she said.
Kim and her siblings grew up under the care of their Lola Ayling after their parents separated.
