It's been one year since the critically-acclaimed "Hello, Love, Goodbye" hit cinemas and we're still not over Joy (Kathryn Bernardo) and Ethan's (Alden Richards) bittersweet love story.
The project was first announced in March of 2019, by the two leads and Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina.
Production began soon after, and the cast flew to Hong Kong to shoot on location. Direk Cathy Gave us a peek into how they made this movie in the first episode of "CGMagic" Season 3. The director pushed her new pairing to new heights and was especially tough on Kathryn.
To get Kathryn into character, Direk Cathy had her immerse herself into the lives of domestic helpers. Kathryn cleaned toilets, distanced herself from her family, and was banned from talking to her boyfriend, Daniel Padilla.
There were hard times in Hong Kong for the cast, yes, but they also managed to squeeze in a little bit of fun and bonding in between filming.
Now as for that unforgettable title. According to Direk Cathy, they went through "more than a hundred" possible titles before they landed on "Hello, Love, Goodbye." It beautiful in that it symbolizes the different phases Joy and Ethan go through in the story.
"Ang kwento, may iba-ibang sinasabi. Every word stands for something," she said during the film's press conference.
The journey may have been long and challenging for Team "Hello, Love, Goodbye" but it was also rewarding. The film broke records worldwide and is now hailed as the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.
