If you're excited for the release of ABS-CBN Films, Black Sheep's first-ever Boys Love (BL) series "Hello, Stranger," you're not alone. Its lead stars Tony Labrusca and JC Alcantara feel exactly the same.
In an exclusive interview with the actors, Tony and JC shared how they are both grateful to be part of the project, which is the first digital show Black Sheep will ever produce.
"To be honest, I never thought that I would be part of a BL [series]. For the Philippines, let's be honest, hindi ko in-expect na aabot tayo sa point na magiging ganito kasikat [ang BL], na they would accept the idea of having BLs here lalo na in the mainstream," he admitted.
Nonetheless, Tony is very grateful to give people entertainment while the country is still on lockdown.
"Super grateful and I'm super happy. It feels like perfect timing lang talaga especially we are on quarantine, people are looking for different ways to pre-occupy their time and finding little things to keep them happy throughout the day. I'm happy to be part of people's entertainment," he said.
JC, for his part, revealed that his role as Mico in "Hello, Stranger" was actually the third BL role that was offered to him, and the first that he accepted.
"Sobrang blessed kasi pangatlong beses na 'tong nangyari sa'kin na na-cast ako sa isang BL series. 'Yung dalawa, hindi ko siya natanggap kasi natatakot ako, kinakabahan ako mag-portray ng ganitong role," he shared.
"Kaya ko tinanggap 'to kasi para maging boses nila," he revealed. "And blessed na rin ako na naging part ako ng BL series lalo na sa nangyayari ngayon, sobrang nakakataba ng puso. Pangarap ko kasing magkawork or maging part lang ng BL ng Black Sheep."
And if there's one thing we can expect from the series, it's love.
"Love is love talaga," JC said. "Si Mico kasi dito, focus talaga siya sa school niya and then mare-realize niya na mai-in love siya. Worth watching siya," he added.
"Based sa mga na-shoot namin, actually nakakakilig siya," Tony said. "Very cute and wholesome. For me, sobrang breath of fresh air 'yung ganito. Very light, positive, and fun."
"Hello, Stranger" premieres on Black Sheep’s Facebook page and YouTube channel this Wednesday, June 24. Helmed by Petersen Vargas, it also stars Gillian Vicencio, Miguel Almendraz, Patrick Quiroz, and Vivoree.
