Siblings Arjo and Ria Atayde assured the public that their parents, Sylvia Sanchez and Arturo Atayde, are slowly recovering from Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In separate Instagram posts, Arjo and Ria spoke out about their parents’ condition, just a few days after Sylvia confirmed that they tested positive for the virus last March 31.
“Before anything else, we’d like to thank everyone for their overwhelming love and support. Although it is difficult and anxiety-inducing knowing that both our parents are positive with COVID-19, all the well wishes and get well soon messages have definitely uplifted our family — especially them,” they wrote.
“A week into their self-isolation and a week after having their swab tests done, our parents are slowly getting better. Although it’s taking longer than their usual recovery time, we are happy to see them with their spirits still high,” they said.
Arjo and Ria also shared that no one else from their family, including those who interacted with the couple prior to their diagnosis, are experiencing any symptoms.
The siblings then asked for everyone to continue praying for their parents, the frontliners, as well as every Filipino who have been diagnosed with the virus.
“Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. We ask that you continue to pray for our parents, our household that nobody else contracted it, every other individual and family dealing with this same ordeal and of course, all our frontliners who continue to risk their lives everyday for our safety. Please all stay safe, healthy, take your vitamins, and stay at home if you have the option,” they wrote.
Sylvia and Art were the latest celebrities to have contracted the virus, following Iza Calzado and Christopher De Leon, who are both now in recovery.
