Bela Padilla has successfully raised a total of 3.3 million pesos in her crowdfunding effort to help Metro Manila's street vendors during the Coronavirus 2019 pandemic.
On Twitter last night, March 17, the actress revealed that she has reached -- and even surpassed -- her target of one million pesos in just two days. She raised nearly 1.4 million pesos since she launched the project last Sunday, March 15.
“We raised nearly 1.4M pesos. Feel good about yourself and give yourself a high five in the mirror! I'm proud of all of us," she tweeted.
However, just this morning, March 18, Bela said she woke up to a 2 million peso donation. This put the total crowdfunded amount to around 3.3 million.
“I was just woken up by a call. Somebody donated 2 million pesos. We are now at 3.3M pesos,” she wrote.
Bela’s fundraising project aims to provide help for street vendors, including those who sell taho, banana cue, and dirty ice cream, among others. The money will be split into 16 quarantine-affected cities in Metro Manila.
