Veteran actor Christopher De Leon has tested positive for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
On Instagram today, March 17, the “Love Thy Woman” actor announced that he has contracted the virus despite not having travelled outside the country recently.
"To all my family and friends, especially in the entertainment business: today, our doctor confirmed that I have COVID-19. I’ve had no recent travel history outside of the Philippines and no known contact with anyone who is positive to have the virus,” he wrote in the caption.
“However, due to the nature of my work in the entertainment business, I have interacted with many people,” he added.
As a precautionary measure, Christopher asked his closest family members and friends, and anyone he was in contact with for the past weeks to undergo self-quarantine.
“I therefore ask anyone who has come in contact me within the last week or two to observe stringent self-quarantine, observe for symptoms, and follow the triage procedures published by the DOH, whether asymptomatic or not,” he wrote.
He continued, “Please cooperate with the authorities in their contact tracing efforts. My wife Sandy, daughter Mica, and our kasambahay are in self-quarantine at home.”
The actor then asked for prayers, writing, “In this time of trial, we ask for your prayers and we continue to praise and thank the Lord for His goodness in our lives. Stay safe and God bless!”
Christopher is currently part of the afternoon series “Love Thy Woman” with Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, and Yam Concepcion.
