ALL IN: The new shows and movies from ABS-CBN Films this 2020!

As challenging as it was for the media industry this 2020, ABS-CBN Films was able to find new ways to bring world-class entertainment to everyone!

With cinemas temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film industry took a major hit. But AFPI quickly responded and delivered shows online via streaming.

While the whole country was on lockdown, AFPI’s Star Cinema mounted the digital talk show “I Feel U” hosted by Toni Gonzaga. The show features Kapamilyas all over the country who have inspiring stories to tell, as well as meaningful conversations with Pinoy celebrities whom we miss seeing on-screen.

AFPI also launched “We Rise Together,” a fun, virtual show that is hosted by talents from Rise Artists Studio, the film outfit’s own talent management arm. Every episode serves fresh and light discussions that the younger generation can relate to.

Kapamilya star Angelica Panganiban also brought happiness and chikahan in her show “Ask Angelica”. In the teaser, she said, “Alam kong pagod na pagod ka buong linggo. Kaya naman deserve mong tumawa, chumika, at ibuga lahat ng emote mo sa mundo.” At napasaya naman talaga tayo ni Mamee Angge!

In the month of June, AFPI’s Black Sheep released a boys love (BL) series titled “Hello Stranger”! The series took its viewers to the blooming and complicated romance of Xavier (Tony Labrusca) and Mico (JC Alcantara) when they became partners for a school project.

Two months later, Star Cinema launched the first of its kind digital lovecast series, “Listen to Love: The Four Bad Boys and Me” starring Kaori Oinuma, Rhys Miguel, and Jeremiah Lisbo!

The show was an adaptation of Tina Lata’s best-selling Wattpad story of the same title.

Phenomenal couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla also made a huge comeback in the digi movie series “The House Arrest of Us”! In the show, they play Q and Korics, an engaged couple who were forced to live together with their clashing families in one house, because of the lockdown.

The absence of physical cinemas didn’t stop Star Cinema in producing full-length films. Powered by Cinexpress, the production house has released four movies since the quarantine began, via KTX.ph, iWantTFC, IPTV, Cignal PPV, and Sky Cable PPV.

Kim Chiu’s horror thriller “U-Turn” marked a special milestone for being Star Cinema’s very first film to hold a virtual premiere.

BL flick “My Lockdown Romance” made everyone gush about Jameson Blake and Joao Constancia’s chemistry! The movie was about two close friends during college, who reconnected during the lockdown through social media.

All of us were welcomed to a not-so-fairytale pero super colorful life ni Boyette in “Boyette (Not A Girl, Yet)," headlined by Zaijian Jaranilla!

The coming-of-age movie took us to the journey of college freshman Boyette, born Boyet Camacho, who had to pretend to be a "boylet" in school so he could get closer to his kababata and ~crush~ Charles (Iñigo Pascual). However, while doing his act, ang dami din niyang naa-attract na girlets, including Nancy (Maris Racal)!

Just last December 11, “Four Sisters Before the Wedding” — the prequel to the Pinoy favorite “Four Sisters and A Wedding — became an early Christmas present!

Young actresses Charlie Dizon, Alexa Ilacad, Gillian Vicencio, and Belle Mariano transported us back to 2003 and showed us the teenage life of the Salazar sisters.

Capping off the year for AFPI was the Black Sheep film “Fan Girl”, which was an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival!

Directed by Antoinette Jadaone, the film stars Paulo Avelino, who plays himself; and Charlie Dizon, who plays Jane, an obsessed fangirl.

Looking forward to bringing you more new shows and films in 2021, Kapamilya!
