The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars, a Christmas tradition Filipinos look forward to every year, went online this year!

The celebration may be different from what we’re used to, but the joy and excitement are the same. Today, December 23, the MMFF official Facebook page streamed the virtual occasion, and it was such a delight to see our favorite movie stars in one festival!

During the program, Black Sheep’s official entry “Fan Girl” was represented by its director, Antoinette Jadaone, and its stars Paulo Avelino and Charlie Dizon.

When asked where she got the idea for the film, Direk Tonet answered, “I have been working sa industriya since I graduated college, so parang lahat ng experience ko working with actors and also dealing with fans, parang lahat ‘yun hindi ko naiisip na research na pala siya para sa pelikula na ‘to. When I was working with a lot of celebrities and actors and also working with fans, ‘yun na pala, sinusulat ko na pala ‘yung kwento for ‘Fan Girl’ nang hindi ko namamalayan.”

The story of “Fan Girl” is about an obsessed teenage fan who does everything to stalk her idol. During the event, Paulo and Charlie were asked who among their idols would they like to “stalk” and what is the craziest thing they would do.

Another official entry “Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim” was represented by its star Vhong Navarro, together with his fellow cast members Joross Gamboa, Benjie Paras, Barbie Imperial, Ritz Azul, Ryan Bang, Yamyam Gucong, and direk Topel Lee. All of the cast members wore the iconic red bandana from the film, which was so fun to see!

Vhong was asked how he feels to be reprising his titular role after starring in its first installment “Mang Kepweng Returns” in 2017.

The comedian-host said, “Sobrang saya po kasi akala ko hindi matutuloy ‘yung part two. Kaya naman po nagpapasalamat ako sa mga nanood nung part one. Kaya po nagkaroon ng part two, kasi successful po ‘yung part one. At sinisigurado ko po sa inyo na mas pinaganda, at mas adventure po.”

He added that people should watch the fantasy-adventure flick because the entertainment they will bring is for everyone!

“Ito kasing ‘Mang Kepweng’, parang pinagsama-sama na lahat dito. May adventure, may comedy, may drama, may suspense. Kumbaga lahat ng audience ay pasok, at sigurado kaming mag e-enjoy sila,” he said.
