“Fan Girl” actress Charlie Dizon shared her thoughts about meeting your heroes and why everyone can relate to their film.
In an exclusive interview with Star Cinema, Charlie, we asked her if she believes in their film tagline, “Never meet your heroes.”
She answered, "Kaya 'never meet your heroes' 'yung tagline namin, personally for me po ah, may mga bagay kasi na 'yung idols natin, na ginagawa na naturally madi-disappoint tayo kapag hindi natin nagustuhan. Kasi may certain fantasy tayo of them or idea kung paano sila nakikita sa screen or sa mga roles nila, parang minsan akala mo ganun din talaga sila sa totoong buhay.”
“So for me, kapag hindi ka willing na matanggap 'yung ganung side ng idol mo, it's better na 'wag mo na nga lang silang ma-meet para hindi masira 'yung illusion mo and kung 'yung illusion na 'yun sa'yo eh nagbibigay din ng happiness or namo-motivate ka, natutulungan ka."
In the film, Charlie plays the character of Jane, a die-hard fan of actor Paulo Avelino, who is playing himself. Her intense passion for Paulo led her to sneaking at the back of his pick-up truck, and eventually discovering who the “real” Paulo is.
Charlie said that everyone can relate to the film. She said, “For me kasi ‘yung ‘Fan Girl’ po, makaka-relate talaga lahat dahil lahat naman din ng tao ay fan, kahit hindi ng artista, kahit ibang bagay. So, at a certain point, may obsession din bawat tao.”
