The top 8 films on Netflix this quarantine

Staying at home has made the most of us reignite our love for movies. Thank heavens for Netflix, we can binge the worries and stress away even just for a couple of hours.

There are lots of films that made headlines from the past months and have become our companions during this time of isolation. We've listed down the top eight that were the most talked-about and definitely, most entertaining!

1. The Old Guard

This Charlize Theron-starrer is a certified hit! It's a femme fatale flick that lets us in on the lives of an army of immortals. But then, someone discovers their secret, and so the immortals must fight tooth and nail for their freedom.

The movie is so popular that talks about the sequel immediately followed.

2. Through Night and Day

Paolo Contis and Alessandra de Rossi's "Through Night and Day" may have been released back in 2018, but it was when it premiered on Netflix this year that it became a Pinoy favorite!

The movie, which spent weeks on Netflix PH's top ten list, is about an engaged couple whose relationship was tested while they were on vacation in Iceland. Spoiler: The unexpected twist will have you crying for days.

3. The Kissing Booth 2

The much-anticipated sequel to "The Kissing Booth"! In it, Noah (Jacob Elordi) and Elle (Joey King) struggle with a long-distance relationship, especially when some "cute distractions" get in the way.

4. Weathering with You

Makoto Shinkai's "Weathering with You" was a blockbuster success in 2019 and when it was released on Netflix last July 31 — it became everyone’s favorite again.

The story follows high schooler Hodaka Morishima and Hina Amano—who has the power to conjure sunny weathers.

5. 365 Days

"Are you lost, baby girl?" You're probably familiar with this line from the Polish erotic film "365 Days", which spent weeks on Netflix's top list.

It has won over the hearts of many, not just in the PH, but all over the world. The film centers on a mafia boss who imprisoned a young woman and gave her 365 days to fall in love with him.

6. Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap

Here we have a total laugh-out-loud film. "Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap" follows the journey of street thugs who dream of becoming big-time thieves. But despite all the training, they still fail to become effective criminals.

Two days after it launched on Netflix, it instantly claimed the top spot of the most-watched content. One of the film's actors, Jerald Napoles said, "Honest comedy ang movie namin. Walang preno kaya irreverent, pero may story, at 'yun ang gusto ngayon ng mga tao."

7. Pamilya Ordinaryo

"Pamilya Ordinaryo" won Best Film at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival in 2016. When it dropped on Netflix PH last June, it instantly ranked number one!

The movie follows the life of a teenage couple living on the streets, whose baby was stolen. As they search for their baby, the social divide in the Philippines gets exposed too.

8. Project Power

"Project Power" is a Netflix superhero movie you shouldn't miss.

It's about a soldier who joins forces with a cop to find the source of a pill that grants anyone temporary superpowers. It stars Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and we'd say it's a fun ride!
