It’s official — Antoinette Jadaone’s “Fan Girl” is an entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2020!
"Fan Girl" stars Paulo Avelino, who will play himself; and Charlie Dizon, who will play Jane, an obsessed fangirl.
Jane's extreme passion for Paulo led her to sneak into the back of his pick-up truck, and she eventually ended up in an "unfamiliar place with an "unfamiliar" Paulo.
They say, never meet your heroes, and Jane finds out exactly why.
This year, MMFF will go virtual. In a Facebook post last October, the official page of the film festival announced, “Ang pinakamalaki at prestihiyosong Film Festival sa Pilipinas ay muli na naman nating matutunghayan ngayong darating na Kapaskuhan 2020. Kaya't muli ay pasasayahin na naman ang buong pamilya sa sama-samang panonood ONLINE!”
MMFF Chairman Danilo Lim also said in a statement that even though cinemas are still closed, they still want to maintain the Filipino movie tradition this Christmas.
He said, “MMFF has been part of the Filipino tradition every holiday season. We will not allow the pandemic to decline our people their chance to see Filipino movies. The cinemas will be closed. At least, the families will enjoy the films at home. Hindi pwedeng mawala ang tradition na ‘yan.”
