Alden Richards couldn't help but get emotional upon giving his speech during the Thanksgiving Party of "Hello, Love, Goodbye" yesterday, September 3.
Following the announcement that their film has already grossed ₱880,603,490, making it the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, Alden put a spotlight on the people who made "Hello, Love, Goodbye's" success possible.
He started his speech by saying that he has always looked up to Star Cinema and Blockbuster Director Cathy Garcia-Molina, "Sabi ko, kung sakaling palarin ako na makapasok sa industriya, I would really love to do a project with Star Cinema and Direk Cathy."
"Talagang dreams really do come true," he continued. "When you're with the right people, you're with the right attitude, you're with the right ways...'yung paniniwala mo sa buhay, you will get where you really wanted to be."
"Ang dami ko pong gustong sabihin from Day 1, ang dami ko pong gustong ipaalam sa inyong lahat kung gaano po ako ka-thankful na sinugalan niyo ako. Thank you po kasi hindi ko na-realize na I'm that worthy."
Being his idol and now his mentor, Alden especially thanked Direk Cathy for allowing him to give life to the character of Ethan.
"This whole journey, my character Ethan, I would like to really give it to Direk Cathy," he said. "Hinawakan niya po ang kamay ko throughout the journey and I just surrendered it to her. Sabi ko, 'pag gagawin ko 'tong role na 'to, kay Direk lang ako susunod. And 'yun po ang nangyari sa 'Hello, Love, Goodbye,' that's why it is what is now."
"Pagbasa ko pa lang ng script, nasa ibang bansa ako noon, talagang sabi ko, 'Worth it ang proyektong ito—isusugal ko lahat dito.' And hindi po ako nagkamali. Salamat po sa lahat ng tiwala: to all the bosses and to Star Cinema for making this film possible for me."
Ethan wouldn't be Ethan without Kathryn Bernardo's character Joy, of course, and Alden took his time to thank his leading lady.
"Siyempre kay Kathryn na ang dami ring pinagdaanan para magawa 'yung proyekto. It's not easy for her. Thank you so much for the trust, for letting me be your partner, [and] your buddy in this film. Maraming salamat sa'yo."
Alden ended his speech with a realization about the entertainment industry, saying, "This project made me realize there's beauty in collaboration—in unity. We all live in one industry. We all live the same goals and that is to entertain and inspire people and I'd like to believe that this is the start of it. To more beautiful collaborations!"
Congratulations to Alden, Kathryn, Direk Cathy, and the rest of Team "HLG!"
Now on its sixth blockbuster week, "Hello, Love, Goodbye" is still showing in cinemas nationwide and all over the world!
