Yeng Constantino just shared that she is currently taking some time off from social media.
In an interview posted by ABS-CBN News last night, September 24, the singer opened up about her decision to go on a social media hiatus after receiving backlash over the vlog that recounted her husband Yan Asuncion’s experience in a Siargao hospital after an accident.
It was her first time to experience massive bashing throughout her 12-year career.
She said, “It's my first time to be bashed that much, so na-culture shock ako. Pero sobrang mahilig ako sa social media.”
“What happened to me, sobra akong na-homesick na rin kasi nami-miss ko na ‘yung social media pero I decided to stop for a while kasi akala mo minsan kaya mo. Pero I just wanna be honest, hindi ko pala kaya 'yun,” the singer added.
She also shared how traumatized she was after the incident, and pointed out how powerful social media is, saying, “'Pag nakakakita ako ng YouTube logo, minsan kinakabahan ako eh. Kinakabahan ako 'pag nakakakita ako ng Twitter.”
“Matagal na po ako sa industry. It's been 12 years and at times, you feel like you're so strong. 'Pag isa-isang bash, wala kang reaction, pero 'pag dumating pala, parang, what? Bulto talaga, so parang hindi mo alam anong gagawin mo. So you're being vulnerable siguro. I really felt so sad and also shocked. Social media is really powerful,” Yeng ended.
Yeng currently serves as a judge in the “Tawag ng Tanghalan” segment of “It’s Showtime.” She is also a regular performer in “ASAP Natin ‘To.”
