Arjo Atayde just received praise from the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) for his exceptional portrayal of an autistic character.
In a Twitter post last Friday, September 20, the organization commended the actor for his role as Elai, a person with autism, in the hit primetime drama series “The General’s Daughter.”
They wrote, “Arjo Atayde’s portrayal of #autism is sensitive and nuanced. The character was well developed and avoided stereotypical caricatures. Bravo!”
The actor extended his deepest gratitude to ASP for recognizing his hard work and efforts in doing the role.
In a tweet, he said, “I did not expect this! Maraming-maraming salamat po. It means a lot.. It really does. Salamat po talaga.”
Just a few weeks back, Arjo made rounds on social media after an emotional episode in the action-drama program. Netizens noted how his genuine acting has touched the hearts of a lot of people.
Before doing the role, the actor immersed himself with people diagnosed with autism to learn the proper way of portraying them for the teleserye.
Arjo starred in the epic fantasy film “Ang Panday” in 2017. He also became a part of various teleseryes, including “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” and “Hanggang Saan.”
