We all got another trip down memory lane, courtesy of the cast of the old Kapamilya series “Mga Anghel Na Walang Langit.”
Just last night, August 5, actresses Sharlene San Pedro and Miles Ocampo took to Twitter to share a photo of them with former co-stars Carl Barrameda, Nikki Bagaporo, and John Manalo recreating their classic teleserye’s title card.
Sharlene, Miles, Carl, Nikki, and John played the roles of Gigi, Pepay, Dodong, Enchang, and Jeboy, five downtrodden street children, all with their own unique stories, who united to survive life’s challenges and realities.
The series was inspired by 1970s film of the same title, written and produced by the King of Philippine Movies, Fernando Poe Jr.
During its run from May 9, 2005 until February 24, 2006, the program was well-received by Filipinos and was an immediate hit.
In her autobiography, former ABS-CBN President and CEO Charo Santos-Concio even noted that the show contributed to the network’s resurgence in the TV ratings game, and somehow changed the landscape of television which was then dominated by fantseryes.
The success of “Mga Anghel Na Walang Langit” also prompted the rise of more family-oriented drama series, including “May Bukas Pa,” “Momay,” “100 Days to Heaven,” and a lot more.
Fourteen years since it ended, the program’s cast members have really come a long way.
Among them, only Sharlene and Miles pursued a career in acting.
Sharlene has landed roles in different teleseryes, including “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” and “Langit Lupa,” and starred in different films, such as “Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang” and “Must Be Love.” She also served as a VJ in the music channel Myx.
Miles, on the other hand, was recently seen in the drama series “Sana Dalawa ang Puso.” She was also a part of “Halik sa Hangin” and “The Achy Breaky Hearts.”
Carl John Barrameda, meanwhile, has started directing programs for ABS-CBN. Earlier this year, he proposed to his long term girlfriend in Hong Kong.
Nikki Bagaporo had appearances in the drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” and has ventured into music recording, even launching her own song just last year.
Lastly. John Manalo decided to pursue his studies and recently completed his Communication Arts degree last year.
