10 truths behind every OFW’s sacrifices, as seen in 'Hello, Love, Goodbye'

The central and heartwarming salute to Overseas Filipino Workers in "Hello, Love, Goodbye" has probably touched the hearts of viewers the most.

With a very realistic depiction of an OFW's daily life in Hong Kong, the Cathy Garcia-Molina film gave us a clearer view of how working abroad is never as glamorous as it seems—it's a sacrifice for Filipinos who chose to be away from their loved ones, in the hopes of giving them a better life.

Here, we listed down the truths every OFW has had to face, as depicted in "Hello, Love, Goodbye:"

1. They will prioritize their family's needs instead of their own

The scene where Joy purchased a pair of shoes for her sister even though she was saving money for herself just shows how selfless OFWs can be just to provide for their loved ones.

2. Nothing can stop them from hustling

Every drop of sweat counts for OFWs, so they make sure that they make the most out of every job—even if it means they have to sacrifice their own time to rest.

And can we just say how sweet this scene between Joy and Ethan is? Kilig!

3. They cope with being distant from their loved ones in their own ways

Video chat platforms are every OFWs best friend. And one message and call from their loved ones are enough to keep them going.

4. They'll take every side hustle available...

Extra income = more savings for OFWs! And they'll take whatever part-time job they could get just to maximize their time and stay.

5. ...even if it means they have to join pageants

Lahat, lahat gagawin at kakayanin para sa pamilya!

6. They save, save, save!

Kahit hindi na makakain at makapagpahinga, basta may maipadala lang!

7. They'll learn the art of going with the flow of life

OFWs go where life takes them, and are always open to new experiences.

8. They find comfort in their second family

Finding a second family as an OFW is a blessing. They just don't help make each day bearable; they might even be one of the reasons why OFWs eventually learn to embrace their life abroad.

9. Keep their friends close is integral!

And if you're lucky enough to find the most trustworthy ones just like how Ethan found his in Jhim (Joross) and Carlo (Jeffrey), they'll really stick with you through the ups and downs. They'll even give you pieces of advice to make sure you're in the right path! True friendship, ika nga!

10. Sooner or later, the homesickness will just disappear

The suffering may last for a few years or even decades for some, but it will eventually come to an end. And by that time, you’ll realize it was worth it.

Now on its fourth blockbuster week, "Hello, Love, Goodbye" is still showing in cinemas nationwide and in theaters all over the world!
