Mackie Empuerto has finally addressed rumors about his departure from the TNT Boys.
In an interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” last Monday, August 12, the young singer denied that he is leaving the internationally-acclaimed group which he forms alongside Keifer Sanchez and Francis Concepcion.
Mackie, who has become a part of several projects on his own, explained that the opportunity to star in his first movie came even before they were introduced as a group.
“Hindi po. Nagkataon lang po na hindi pa po kami TNT Boys tapos nagkaroon po ako ng first movie ko po na solo ko lang po na hindi po sila kasama,” he said.
Mackie, Keifer, and Francis also pointed out that none of them are planning to pursue solo careers in the immediate future.
The trio were all contenders in the first season of “Tawag ng Tanghalan: Kids” in the noontime variety show “It’s Showtime.” They were among the competition’s finalists, with John Clyd Halili being chosen as the grand winner.
They rose to fame after performing a dramatic rendition of Beyonce’s “Listen” on the comedy talk show “Gabang Gabi Vice,” becoming a trending topic on social media worldwide.
The TNT Boys has since made appearances and represented the country in different talent searches all over the world.
They were also featured in an iWant-produced documentary entitled “TNT Boys: Journey to the World Stage” which was released today.
