Toni reminds fans: ‘Keep the faith’

Toni Gonzaga just proved that all your biggest dreams might just come to reality.

In her latest vlog posted on YouTube yesterday, July 31, the singer-actress gave us a glimpse of what she considers as a special day: the time when she finally had the chance to share the stage with her idol, the Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

Toni, who temporarily left “ASAP Natin ‘To” to focus on her hosting duties for “Pinoy Big Brother: Otso,” marked her return to the musical variety show and expressed how happy she was to be back on the show.

She further recalled the times when she was just starting to build her showbiz career, the challenges that she encountered, and the dreams that she needed to let go.

"Growing up, all I ever wanted to be was a singer. I grew up watching and listening to Regine Velasquez, and she was such an inspiration to me. I wanted to be like her, I would sing her songs in every audition, and I would watch all her shows and concerts, hoping one day, I could meet her and sing with her,” Toni stated.

She added, “Walking up to this stage reminded me of the many years that I sang at hotel lounges, bars, and restaurants, and all the auditions that rejected me. I came to a point of realization that maybe my dream of becoming a singer was not meant to be. So I tried other things. After all those years of struggling as a singer, my biggest break came as a commercial model, and I eventually became a host and an actress, and nobody knew that I could sing.”

Toni decided to surrender her dreams, to accept reality, and faithfully trusted the Lord’s plan for her life. But still, she hoped to have an encounter with her idol, even after getting married and starting her own family.

“God had a different plan, and His plan seemed like it was going further away from my dream and my first love. I didn't know why, but I trusted the process. Everytime I would celebrate a major milestone in my career, I always hoped that maybe. I could share the same stage with my inspiration. But it never really happened for me,” she said.

“Sabi ko sa sarili ko, baka it's not meant for me. So I surrendered my dream to God, and with peace in my heart I accepted the reality.”

More than two decades of waiting, Toni’s dream finally came true last Sunday, July 28.

“Pwede pa palang mangyari. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think this could still happen.”

She then advised her followers to keep the faith, and to continue praying for what their hearts desire.

She said, “Maybe there are dreams in your heart that you kept hidden for a long time because you think it's never gonna happen for you. If God is making you wait, it's because He is preparing something great. Keep the faith. One day you'll be staring at the blessing you used to always dream about.”

The singer-actress ended her vlog with a Bible verse to remind everyone trust in God’s perfect timing.

"He has made everything beautiful in His time - Ecclesiastes 3:11.”
