Korean actress and model Lee Sung-kyung is now in Manila for her first-ever fan meet in the Philippines!
But before her much-anticipated show today, July 27, the Korean star, who was well-known for her role as Kim Bok-joo in “Weightlifting Fairy,” met with the press and several fans in a media conference held at the ABS-CBN Dolphy Theater yesterday, July 26, and gamely answered questions during the Q&A session.
According to her, she considers her portrayal as Kim Bok-joo, and Michaela Choi from “About Time” as the ones closest to her heart.
Sung-kyung said that she is thankful for the support, especially for the positive reception that her program received in the country, saying, “Philippine fans really love the ‘Kim Bok-joo’ series, so thank you very much.”
She also admitted that she was challenged in doing the iconic role because she needed to look chubbier and to further understand the character’s personality.
Much to the delight of her fans, Sung-kyung shared that she would be willing to do another season of the hit Korean drama series.
“I have to discuss with the director and the writer of Kim Bok-joo,” she said.
She would also be ready and willing to take on new roles in a different series, and looks forward to visiting various tourist spots in the Philippines that were recommended by her friends.
Sung-kyung also left a sweet message for her Filipino fans who continue to support her.
“I love you Philippines. Thank you so much,” she expressed.
Just recently, the Korean actress was praised by Broadway singer Lea Salonga for her impressive cover of the hit “Aladdin” theme song “A Whole New World.”
Lee Sung-kyung starred in the hit Korean drama series “Weightlifting Fairy” which aired on ABS-CBN in 2017.
