Sharon Cuneta has opened the doors to her experience with adoption in a new vlog.
The singer, who adopted a son, Miguel, with husband Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, gave her personal thoughts on the matter in a Youtube vlog last July 18.
She said, “In my opinion lang naman, Kiko and I decided na maliit pa si Miguel namin, ay sasabihin na namin para wala ng questions. Lumalaki siya na alam niyang special siyang bata.”
She continued, “Ang sabi ko sa kanya, ‘The lady that had you really loved you, but could not anymore afford to keep you. Actually, mas malalim ‘yung istorya, pero it’s not time for that. So ikwinento ko lang how he came to us, and all. ‘Di ko na kailangan i-detalye.”
Sharon never had any doubts when they were given the opportunity to adopt Miguel.
“Miguel came to us, God gave him to us when he was about one-day old. When someone said there was a baby, it was a boy, hindi na ako nag-isip ng dalawang beses. I didn’t see a picture of him, ‘di ko alam kung may diprensya siya, kung ‘di sampu ‘yung daliri niya. I didn’t even ask,” she recalled.
“Ang akin was, it was the right time,” she added.
In 2009, the singer-actress, who already had three daughters by then—KC with first husband Gabby Concepcion, and Frankie and Mariel—first talked about her plans to adopt a baby boy with Sen. Kiko.
The following year, they adopted Miguel and introduced him to the public in 2012.
Sharon starred in the 2017 rom-com “Unexpectedly Yours,” and the 2018 family drama “Three Words to Forever,” both helmed by “Hello, Love Goodbye” director Cathy Garcia-Molina.
