It looks like Kim Chiu will be testing her volleyball skills for an upcoming episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”
The actress is set to portray the life of volleyball star Cherry Ann “Sisi” Rondina in the July 20 episode of the drama anthology.
On Instagram yesterday, July 15, Kim expressed how honored she is to take on the role and praised the volleyball star’s determination to reach for her dreams.
“I’ve been following her journey sa UAAP, and it felt surreal to play as Sisi sa ‘MMK.’ Isang karangalan! Thank you @mmkofficial. Grabe pala ang pinagdaanan ng babaeng ‘to. Pure dedication, hard work, determination, and most especially her love for her family! She really deserves all the support that she has right now,” the actress wrote.
In a teaser posted on Facebook last Saturday, July 13, we got a peek of Sisi’s challenges as a daughter of an overseas Filipino worker, and as a struggling varsity player trying to secure her college education. The athlete, who used to play for the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses, was also chosen as the UAAP’s most valuable volleyball player for Season 81.
Aside from Kim, Dennis Padilla and Yayo Aguila will also be appearing in the said episode as Sisi’s parents.
The episode will also mark Kim’s return to drama this year after starring in “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin.”
She currently co-hosts “Pinoy Big Brother: Otso,” and will also star in the upcoming teleserye “Love Thy Woman,” which is also her reunion project with boyfriend Xian Lim.
Kim topbilled the 2017 horror flick “ The Ghost Bride,” and the 2018 horror comedy movie “Da One That Ghost Away.”
