“Clarita” just earned more than P70 million in the box office, over two weeks after it premiered in cinemas.
In a Facebook post today, June 28, ABS-CBN Films, Black Sheep shared the horror flick’s current earnings and thanked the people who already watched the film.
The film, which is topbilled by Jodi Sta. Maria, tells the story of Clarita Villanueva, a Filipina woman who became the subject of a media circus after experiencing demonic possessions while in police detention during the 1950s.
Jodi, who was praised for her performance in the movie, needed to do challenging scenes herself, particularly distressing ones, without a stunt double, and learned lines in various languages to make the film an accurate one.
Film director Derick Cabrido also did in-depth research on Clarita’s case records in order to keep the story’s veracity. He also revealed that he needed to add sequences for cinematic and creative purposes to fill in certain gaps on her tale.
For those brave souls who have not watched the film yet, we recommend you to check out this one!
You may still see “Clarita” in over 100 theaters nationwide.
