After suffering from a leg injury while skiing in Japan, Lea Salonga is finally returning to “The Voice Kids.”
In a recent interview with ABS-CBN News, the Tony award-winning singer announced that she will be reprising her coaching duties for the singing competition in spite of her hectic schedule.
She said, “I guess it’s official! The first announcement was Sarah Geronimo’s, and hers is like the toughest one to get. My schedule is tough, but hers is even tougher.”
She also expressed her pride over Darren Espanto and Morisette Amon, both products of “The Voice,” for their version of “A Whole New World,” which she originally sang in 1992.
“What I loved, in particular, was how much joy they had in singing that song. It was infectious,” she explained.
Aside from her coaching stint, her upcoming projects include the “Sweeney Todd” musical, alongside Jett Pangan. She was also a part of the “Yellow Rose,” a multi-awarded film produced by the ABS-CBN Cinematografo Originals, with Princess Punzalan and Eva Noblezada.
She also took part in various Broadway projects including "Once on this Island" which gave her her very first Grammy Award nomination.
In the big screen, Lea starred in the 1995 romantic film “Sana Maulit Muli,” with Aga Muhlach.
It’s good to see you back, Lea!
