Piolo Pascual and Shaina Magdayao walked among cinema’s biggest legends at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival in France. They led the cast of Lav Diaz’s four-and-a-half-hour sci-fi film “Ang Hupa” (“The Halt”), which held its world premiere at the prestigious festival last May 23.
The film was part of Director’s Fortnight, a non-competitive independent section that was established in Cannes in 1969.
Unfortunately, the film's director, master maximalist Direk Lav, was in Cuba and could not make it to the premiere. However, he was well represented by his team. Cast members Joel Saracho, Noel Miralles, Pinky Amador, Mara Lopez, and Hazel Orencio walked the film’s carpet with Piolo and Shaina, and to open the premiere, they read a message penned by the director himself.
