Raymond Bagatsing’s dedication as a method actor has never been more evident!
The actor, who plays the titular President Manuel L. Quezon in the internationally-awarded period piece “Quezon’s Game”, took to Instagram today, May 2, to share his journey as a method actor trying to portray a historical figure. From the pushed back, classic hair to the haunted eyes, one can safely say that Raymond succeeded in this feat.
The rest of the world agrees, of course. For his work as President Quezon, he has been awarded Best Actor awards from the Cinema Worldfest AUTUMN Awards and IndieFilm Festival.
The film raked in a total of nine awards of excellence from Cinema Worldfest AUTUMN Awards, actually, including Lighting, Original Score, Produced Screenplay, Sound Design, Set Design, and Costume Design. Raymond’s co-star Rachel Alejandro also scored a Best Actress award. Their director Matthew E. Rosen received an Award of Recognition for directing.
IndieFilm, on the other hand, doled out Best Asian Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Music Score awards of excellence for the film. It also won a major award at the 52nd Annual WorldFest-Houston International Film and Video Festival.
“Quezon’s Game” tells the little-known story of how President Quezon provided safe haven for thousands of Jews during World War II when the Nazi Regime was committing mass genocide all over Europe. It also stars Rachel Alejandro and is slated to hit cinemas nationwide this May 21.
