Darren and Morissette team up for Disney’s ‘A Whole New World'

It was a dream for Darren Espanto and Morissette Amon to sing the official theme song of the live-action reboot of Disney’s "Aladdin", and it has come true.

In a report by ABS-CBN News last May 10, it was announced that the two Filipino singers were to give life to the local version of the Disney classic "A Whole New World". The song was first popularized by Lea Salonga in 1992, and its new rendition will be used to promote the upcoming remake in the Philippines.

"It’s a dream come true for me to be able to sing one of the songs I would sing as a kid," Darren revealed.

"And now it's actually an official track so it's really cool," he added.

Morissette was also just as delighted, telling reporters that it's an honor for her to have a single included in the movie’s soundtrack.

"It has always been a dream, or as we put it in the movie, been a wish. And just to see that dream coming to fruition and to actually live it—I’m very, very happy,” she enthused.

It is not the first time Disney has collaborated with young and talented Kapamilya stars. Iñigo Pascual sang the local version of "Remember Me" from Disney's "Coco" in 2017, and Janella Salvador was tapped to sing the Philippine version of Disney's "Moana" theme song "How Far I'll Go" in 2016.

Darren and Morissette's version of "A Whole New World" is slated for release soon.
