Alyssa Quijano is speaking out about her breakup from Jake Zyrus.
The singer split from the trans icon way back in 2013, and opened the doors to her progress moving forward after their difficult and complicated split during her auditions in "Idol Philippines".
According to Alyssa, she gave up on her passion for singing during their relationship.
"Marami akong na-sacrifice...I stopped singing. Nawala 'yung Alyssa na kilala ko. I was just giving my all na parang nakalimutan ko na 'yung sarili ko," she said in an emotional interview.
"After the breakup," she continued, "Noong medyo nakaka-move on na ako, I learned a lot from that relationship. Alam ko na ang hirap din ng pinagdaanan niya. And I believe na pareho kaming natuto sa pagkakamali namin.”
Now, nearly six years later, she's coming back to the spotlight.
“Ngayon, I’m pursuing my dreams. I’m becoming who I really am. Kaya nga bumalik ako ng school and kumakanta ako ulit. Now that I’ve shared my story for the first time, this is the time na I’m leaving my past behind me. Ito na ako.”
Alyssa received glowing reviews from the "Idol" judges Regine Velasquez, Moira Dela Torre, James Reid, and Vice Ganda after her rendition of "Araw-Gabi". She now advances to Idol City with her golden ticket!
