A short inspirational quote, the name of your significant other, a Bible verse, or your spirit animal, whatever it is, our choice of tattoo designs have some pretty deep (or sometimes not so deep) reasons behind them.
And in case you're in doubt if you should finally welcome the summer season by joining the inked squad (by getting that one design you've been thinking of since you turned 18), here are some Kapamilya celebrities who will inspire you to take a step towards reclaiming your body artistically.
1. Vice Ganda
In 2015, the "Fantastica" star got himself a new tattoo that reads: "Look at the stars, see their beauty, and in that beauty, see yourself."
"Hindi ba halos lahat ng tattoo ko, dalawa lang ang hindi stars," he said in a previous interview. "Gusto ko naman this time ay quote pero ang gusto ko 'yung quote ay about stars."
2. JM de Guzman
The "Last Fool Show" actor labelled his tattoos a "Beautiful Mess".
3. Arci Munoz
It was in 2016 when Arci got a cherry blossom tattoo to remember Tintin, her character in her very first romance-comedy alongside Gerald Anderson "Always Be My Maybe".
Arci joins JM in "Last Fool Show" directed by Edong Roy Jr. Catch them in cinemas this April 10.
4. Maxene Magalona
The "Eerie" star has a French word on her left wrist which means “Daddy's girl.” She also has a tiara on her nape, which is apparently a tribute to her late father Francis Magalona.
5. Cristine Reyes
If you are into crucifix designs, Cristine‘s body art will inspire you to go for it.
6. Jessy Mendiola
Jessy's mermaid tattoo with a whale shark symbolizes her dedication to protecting her favorite sea creature.
7. Coleen Garcia
“I chose an anchor because of all the trials I went through with Billy (Crawford)," said the "Sin Island" actress of her tattoo in a previous interview. "The anchor represents strength and stability."
8. Jake Cuenca
Most of Jake's tattoos represent his love for his two countries, the Philippines and his father's homeland Spain.
“La Furia Roja means The Fury of Red. That’s the name noong nanalo ‘yung Spain noong World Cup, pina-tattoo ko,” said Jake in a interview with PUSH.
He also has a tattoo that reads “7107” to represent the Philippine islands.
9. Diego Loyzaga
"I don't always get a tattoo. But when I do I get five," Diego said in a tweet.
10. Angelica Panganiban, Kim Chiu, and Bela Padilla
These Kapamilya celebrities took their friendship to the next level by getting matching tattoos last November.
Now go and convince your BFF to do the same.
