On "ANC Headstart" today, March 8, Nadine Lustre opened up about the loss of her brother Isaiah, as well as how she dealt with her own depression.
"I was completely destroyed," she said when asked how it changed her.
Prior to that moment, she had invited her brother to come over to watch some movies, just a typical brother-and-sister bond.
So when that happened, Nadine couldn't help but blame herself. She and her family were all blaming themselves.
"We could've saved him. We could've done something," she said.
After her brother's death, she read his blogs for the first time. Written there were all the things Isaiah went through - which was a lot.
"I think the most important thing you can do to a person [who suffers from depression] is to talk to them. Let them know that you have their backs. Talk to them all the time...be a good friend. You give them advice. And you listen.
You have to be a very good listener," she asserted.
Nadine then related that she also suffered from depression.
"That was around 2015 to 2016. When I started realizing that everything was changing for me," she said. "There was pressure. I was really insecure. I had a lot of issues with myself. I didn't know who I was. I was so lost."
