Mother and daughter Pia and Maxene Magalona reminisced about the patriarch of the Magalona family, the late Francis M.

Yesterday, March 6, was the 10th death anniversary of the iconic rapper. It was back in August 2008 when he was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) that took his life after seven months.

"I remember distinctly that we were both lying in his hospital bed, watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics, when a doctor came by and asked to speak to me in the hallway," Pia recalled.

She furthered, "She carefully broke the news, and my only reaction was okay. So what’s the method of treatment, and how long is he going to be confined? I even had a smile on my face, because I was just glad to know they had found out why he was having daily fever and was lightheaded. The doctor then said the dreaded words: it’s cancer. Pia also looked back on how difficult it was to tell the sad news to their youngest children.

"They were only 14, almost-9 and almost-8. I cried with them with each and every revelation, answering the same questions eight times over."

Maxene, meanwhile, also took to Instagram to relate how her dad's kindness and legacy continue to live on after his death.

"More than your music, art and all the beautiful things you created, my heart beams with pride every time I hear someone say kind words about you," the "Eerie" star said. "I’ve heard countless stories about how you treated the people around you with kindness, how you were so down to earth and how you always knew how to make others feel special and never let anyone feel left out."

"Thank you for showing me what it means to be human even after your death," she added.
