Blood runs thick with the Magalonas.
In a recent interview with PEP, actress Maxene Magalona gave us an update on her brother Elmo Magalona, who has been keeping a low profile after a controversial past few months. Apparently, he's been using this time to build a stronger spiritual relationship with God.
Maxene revealed, "Sabi ko sa kanya, it's a chance for him to grow as a person. Alam mo, I'm so proud of Elmo and how he handles everything that comes his way. Mas naging close siya kay God these past few years and nakakatuwa na makita ang growth niya as a man."
But you know, at the end of the day, we have to be there for our family and, at the same time, 'yung growth nila, 'yun ang i-support and encourage and be positive sa kanila. Kasi 'yun naman ang mahalaga."
According to Maxene, she's been a solid source of support for her brother, whom she says has been doing well despite the circumstances.
She said, "Hindi tayo perfect, but if we can all live together and be kind to each other, support each other, mas magiging maganda ang mundo natin...[he's doing okay] pero siguro dapat siya ang tinatanong niyo. Basta ako, ate niya ako, I love him and I support him, and 'pag kailangan niya ako, nandito ako para sa kanya.”
Maxene is part of the hit morning series "Playhouse" topbilled by Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Maruno. Elmo, on the other hand, last appeared in the millennial-geared teen drama "Walwal" and the 2017 horror film "Bloody Crayons."
