Andi Eigenmann encouraged her followers to be supportive instead of judging her daughter Ellie's new haircut.
On Instagram yesterday, March 13, Andi showed her disappointment to those trying to contain Ellie in their definition of "real" beauty and womanhood.
"Been receiving so much comments from strangers asking me what happened to Ellie’s hair," Andi wrote in the caption. "And assuming that it has something to do with her gender identity, or simply telling me how much of a waste it was to cut her hair off because 'she was so beautiful.'"
"My daughter STILL IS beautiful, and no matter how much she will change through time, she always will be. Because it was never her long hair that made her look good," she added.
According to the 28-year-old actress, it was and will always be her mission as a mother to raise a child that is comfortable and confident regardless of the society's standard of beauty.
"It saddens me how people (especially other women) are making me feel like Ellie cannot feel or be beautiful just because of her hair," she stressed. "As a mother though, it gets scary for me to raise my child around people who think this way. Why can’t we just learn to support and encourage other women to be confident, and strong, and to stay true to who they are, rather than bringing them down for being this way?"
Andi is five months old pregnant with her second daughter and is building her new home in Siargao with partner Philmar Alipayo (https://starcinema.abs-cbn.com/2019/2/28/news/andi-eigenmann-pinakita-ang-bahay-sa-siargao-47645).
