Are you down in the dumps after a brutal breakup? Worry no more, because we have just what you need to help you move forward.
While watching movies are nowhere near as healthy as facing and dealing with your emotional trauma (because aminin na natin, walang hiya talaga ‘yung ex mo), nor will it be as helpful as a five-hour girl talk session with your best friends, it is a perfect way to escape for two hours and find hope in the stories of women who have picked themselves up and moved on from men significantly more attractive than your ex.
1. “One More Chance”
Is there anything more uplifting than Basha’s (Bea Alonzo) story of self-discovery?
She might have regretted it all in the glorious “ako na lang, ako na lang ulit” end, but we argue that she made the right choice breaking up with Popoy (John Lloyd Cruz) to find herself and get an amazingly chic new haircut. And while we don’t advice that you get a pixie cut, binabagayan ‘yan sis kaya hinay-hinay ka lang, we do advice that you watch this movie.
2. “It Takes a Man and a Woman”
The third chapter of Miggy Montenegro (John Lloyd Cruz) and Laida Magtalas’ (Sarah Geronimo) love story might be the most painful, but it is also the one we can learn the most from.
Patience and time and a good solid apology, that’s all you really need for a personal happy ending. Siyempre, it helps if magkabalikan kayo pero wag ka na umasa, wala ka sa pelikula ni Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina.
3. “Starting Over Again”
You could say Ginny (Toni Gonzaga) and Marco’s (Piolo Pascual) story are among the most realistic in this list, and that’s precisely why you should watch this movie.
From their long relationship to their “walang explanation” breakup, it’s a love story that will most likely resemble yours. Except, hindi mo naging jowa si Piolo, at hindi masarap ang sinigang noong ex mo. However, “Starting Over Again” answered the question in your head, “paano kaya kung magkita kami ng ex ko, magkakabalikan kaya kami ulit?” with a deep and resounding “no, kaya mag-move on ka na”. You should listen.
4. “The Hows of Us”
Sinong hindi pinaiyak ng “The Hows of Us”? Wala ka bang puso? Pa-double check nga!
George (Kathryn Bernardo) and Primo (Daniel Padilla) represent the 1% of exes who never should have broken up but did anyway, and now has that 97% chance of getting back together. Siyempre hindi natin alam if kasali kayo ng ex mo doon sa 1% but just in case, you should seriously consider carving some time during the weekend to cry your little heart out to “The Hows of Us”.
5. “That Thing Called Tadhana”
And we’ve arrived at the ultimate “makaka-move on ka din, mahirap lang” movie.
Mace (Angelica Panganiban) has the ultimate moving on advantage, and that is meeting a perfect stranger at an airport who had no problems being completely honest with her. That’s what you really need to move forward: honesty, from yourself and your friends and is there anything more honest than “That Thing Called Tadhana”?
And siyempre since it’s your lucky day (except doon sa part na kakabreak mo lang), “That Thing called Tadhana” will finally, gloriously be on Youtube starting tomorrow, February 28! This is not a drill. Go to the video and count down before it premieres!
