Catriona Gray on breakup with Clint Bondad: 'It didn't work out'

Catriona Gray opened up about her breakup with boyfriend of six years Clint Bondad in a candid interview on "Tonight With Boy Abunda" yesterday, February 22,

According to the beauty queen, the split was a long time coming as they had been going through a rough patch even before she went to Thailand for the Miss Universe competition late last year. She explained, "We weren't on speaking terms so much. It was really hard going through the competition with that going on at the same time but I had to keep reminding myself, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, I need to give my best."

In spite of their problems, Clint was present in Bangkok to support Catriona.

She said, "I want to represent the Philippines well, so it was a struggle. But I see that he is doing so well now and I don't want to talk about it that much, one because I'm private, and two, because I greatly respect him and I'm grateful for the time I had with him. I just wish him the best!"

Catriona remained mum about the real reason behind their separation but seems to be doing all she can to work through it with positivity. She told the King of Talk, "When you're together for so long and you start off from a very young age, you grow. Whether that be in your personal or in your career. Sometimes, you outgrow each other in a way and if we're meant to be together, maybe it'll happen in the future but as of right now naman po...[no]."

She later added, "I want to [stay single], you know why din Tito Boy, I've never really had the chance. Being in a six-year relationship from the age of 18, I've never been a young adult, except a growing young Christian din, in that season of singleness and I think it's really important as an individual because you need to know what you want and who you are. Establish your own identity as your own person and I really want to take that time. Being Miss Universe for a year is an amazing experience and I just want to be able to grow in that season as Miss Universe."

As of right now, Catriona says she is not on speaking terms with Clint.
