"Unbreakable" actress Bea Alonzo has just been selected as one of Asia's best and brightest actresses.
The actress was included in this year’s Asian Stars: Up Next, presented by the International Film Festival and Awards Macao (IFFAM), and the American publication, Variety. The list was released today, November 28.
In an exclusive interview with Star Cinema, the “Unbreakable” superstar expressed how honored she is to be part of the list.
She said, “I feel so grateful to be recognized by the prestigious awards-giving body. Parang malaking bagay siya. When you are doing your films, parang hindi mo naiisip ‘yung ganyang klaseng validation.”
“Napakalaking parte ng Star Cinema sa award na ‘yan because all of my films are produced by Star Cinema and ‘yung journey ko as an actress kasama lahat doon ‘yung directors, writers, even the crew and staff. So, I’m beyond grateful. Blessing after blessing ‘yung dumarating sa buhay ko. I don’t even know if I am deserving.”
She continued, “I’m just very thankful, overwhelmed by the success of ‘Unbreakable,’ and now, this recognition. I just want to give back the glory to God, and of course, everyone who has been supporting me, watching my films, and appreciating the work that I do.”
“I’m sure napakalaking bagay nila kung bakit ako narecognize. Thank you so much to all my supporters, and Star Cinema for giving me the chance to be able to portray roles that I only dreamed of doing. I have always wanted to be an actress and to act in front of a camera.
“This has always been my passion. Thank you for always giving me the chance to fulfill my dream.”
Variety lauded Bea’s excellent performance in her roles in “a number of popular primetime soap opera and box office hits.” Three of some of her most notable films under Star Cinema — “My First Romance,” “The Love Affair,” and “A Second Chance” — were also mentioned.
Apart from the actress, other Filipino celebrities previously selected were Piolo Pascual and Anne Curtis, in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
Catch Bea alongside Angelica Panganiban and Richard Gutierrez in the Mae Cruz-Alviar film “Unbreakable,” which is now in over 220 theaters nationwide.
