The much-awaited 2019 ABS-CBN Christmas Station I.D. has just been released and it will leave you rather nostalgic for the network’s best moments through the years.
Just last night, November 18, the Kapamilya network finally dropped its latest Christmas song (performed by “The Voice: Kids” coaches Sarah Geronimo, Lea Salonga, Bamboo and the finalists from its recently-concluded season), formally marking the beginning of the yuletide season.
As the network capped the year-long celebration of its 65th year, it decided to pay homage to the memories from the previous decades. Here’s the thing: the nostalgia factor of having ordinary Filipinos make heartfelt renditions of iconic Christmas anthems such as “Star ng Pasko,” “Thank You for the Love,” “Just Love,” and “Family is Love” is guaranteed to make you at least shed a tear.
The network’s biggest stars were featured alongside Filipino families whose lives they changed through their craft and their generous charitable works. “M&M: The Mall the Merrier” star Vice Ganda and his fellow “It’s Showtime” hosts Karylle, Ryan Bang, Vhong Navarro, Amy Perez, and Jhong Hilario were reunited with Teresita Cachero and Carlo Bautista, who were featured in the Kwentong Kapamilya campaign earlier this year.
The country’s biggest love teams, including Kathniel (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla), Lizquen (Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil), and Mayward (Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber), also brought kilig to the video.
The cast of "FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” led by Coco Martin also brought joy and cheers to the Noblezada Family, featured initially on the 2018 Christmas Station ID. The family shed tears upon meeting their idols once again.
The “Kadenang Ginto” stars led by Dimples Romana, Beauty Gonzalez, Albert Martinez, and Andrea Brillantes, met with an Aeta choral group from Bataan, the Koro Bangkal Magbikin, who were featured during the 2018 Christmas station ID.
Another highlight: “Unbreakable” stars Bea Alonzo and Richard Gutierrez took part in the merry-making. They were joined by other icons such as the Queen of Philippine Soap Opera Judy Ann Santos, The Ultimate Heartthrob Piolo Pascual, the Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, and the Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga.
ABS-CBN’s Chairman Mark Lopez, President and CEO Carlo Katigbak, Chief Content Officer Charo Santos-Concio, and Chief Operating Officer for Broadcast Cory Vidanes also made an appearance.
As the nearly 13-minute video closed, we saw the ABS-CBN family grow, from 1988 to this year. May we continue to be in the service of the Filipino people worldwide in the years to come!
