Winners of this year’s Cinema One Originals Festival are beyond thankful after receiving accolades from the country’s biggest independent film festival.

Last Friday, November 15, participants of this year’s event gathered at the ABS-CBN Dolphy Theater for the much-awaited awarding ceremonies.

“Metamorphosis,” which tackles the life of intersex people, bagged the most number of awards, including Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Sound, and Best Cinematography.

In a lengthy Facebook post, the film’s director, J.E. Tiglao, dedicated the recognition to his parents.

“Papa at Mama, kayo ang saksi ng aking naging paglalakbay sa pelikulang ito. Kayo ang yakap-yakap ko sa kama tuwing nagiging parang bata akong umiiyak sa bawat rejections ng pelikulang ito at sa maraming pitchings,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Angel Aquino, whose daughter Iana Bernardez won Best Supporting Actress, took to Instagram to express pride over the recognition.

She wrote, “I have no words for this post, just tears of joy and overwhelming pride. Iana, I hope that this honor washes over all your doubts, your fears, anxieties, and uncertainties. Trust life. Trust the Universe. Trust God. Have faith in yourself. We’re so proud of you!”

Alessandra de Rossi, on the other hand, bagged the Best Actress recognition for her excellent performance in “Lucid.”

In her Instagram post, the actress thanked everyone who supported her in her endeavors, including film directors with whom she had worked with.
