Veteran actor Tony Mabesa has passed away. He was 84.
In a statement released by Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas last night, October 4, it was stated that the icon was surrounded by his family and friends when he passed on at 10:15PM.
The actor's family are also requesting for privacy as they grieve his sudden passing.
“We thank you for your prayers. We hope you can respect the family’s wish for privacy at this time,” they said.
Considered as a pillar of arts and theater, Tony was the founding artistic director of Dulaang UP.
His career, which spanned over seven decades, gave us dozens of theater productions, movies, and television series.
He also appeared in different Star Cinema movies, including "The Mistress" in 2012, "She's the One" in 2013, and "Maybe This Time" and "Bride for Rent" in 2014.
Tony may have passed on, but his legacy will remain forever. May his soul rest in peace.
